'The Sportmaster,' an American made bolt-action rimfire rifle chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle. The Remington 512 'Sportmaster' was produced from 1940 until 1962. Since there is no serial number this rifle, it was manufactured pre-1968. Rifle features a blued finish, receiver drilled and tapped for optic mounting, two-piece optic mounts installed onto the receiver, a 25" tapered barrel, dovetailed blade front sight with a silver-toned bead, elevation adjustable sporting rear sight, serrated curved color-case trigger, stamped trigger guard, turned-down and swept-back bolt handle, cocking status indicator at the rear of the bolt, 3/4 length tube magazine, serrated manual safety on the right side of the receiver. The hardwood furniture consists of a smooth semi-pistol gripped shoulder stock, smooth forend, and a checkered factory black plastic butt plate. The original blued finish retained is approximately 85% with light handling blemishes, edge wear, general thinning, and the finish taking on a brown patina. Metal displays no deformation, but there is very minor oxidation on the front sight blade, and on the butt plate screws. Action is smooth and crisp, and the bore is bright with strong rifling. The furniture wood is in good condition with dents & scratches, some thinning finish, and edge wear.
Condition is NRA Good.
