The Remington 870 Competition Trap is a rare single-shot, pump-action shotgun equipped with a gas-recoil reduction system, manufactured from roughly 1981 to 1986 with 5,300-5,500 manufactured. Gas-Operated Recoil System. Instead of a standard hollow magazine tube to hold extra shells, the magazine area houses a Remington 1100-style gas-recoil system and a buffer weight to significantly reduce recoil. It holds a capacity of only 1 round; shells must be loaded manually one at a time, making it purpose-built for singles trap shooting, the manual pump action lets the shooter control the ejection of the spent shell on the trap line. Features a specialized walnut stock with a higher comb than standard 870 models, a 30-inch vent-rib barrel with a fixed full choke, Bradley style white sighting bead, mid steel bead. lweft receiver marked "Competition", top of receiver has a matte non-glare finish, 2 3/4' chamber. Decelerator slip-on recoil pad. The bore is excellent, bright, slide action is smooth, the wood is overall excellent with a few minor scratches and the blue is about 965 with minor scratches and a couple of very light patches of pitting on the receiver. The gun you want for Single-shot trap competitions. Comes with owners manual. LOP-14 1/4', Drop at Comb-1 3/4' & Drop at Heel-1 3/8' with recoil pad installed.
