Remington Model 1888 Single Action Revolver, #166, .44-40 cal., 5-3/4'' barrel, nickel finish, smooth walnut grips. Barrel address marked ''E. Remington & Sons, Ilion, NY USA''. Considered quite scarce with less than 1000 mfg'd between 1888-1889, mostly using leftover Model 1875 parts. Sold through Hartley & Graham after they assumed control of the Remington factory in 1888. ''44'' stamped to left rear triggerguard bow. Condition is about very good retaining approx. 80%-85% nickel with most of the losses to the left rear portion of frame. Cylinder retains approx. 60% nickel. Grips fit well and are numbered to the revolver, but may be later replacements. Action remains crisp, bore is fair to good. Est.: $5,000-$7,500. (Antique)
