'Military Model' single shot rimfire rifle manufactured circa 1913-1914, a cadet style rifle adopted as official; rifle of the Boy Scouts. Features 28" barrel, blade front & folding ladder rear sights, walnut stocks with straight wrist butt stock and nearly full length forend, handguard, single band with sling swivel, additional forward swivel under forend near tip, swivel at butt, curved metal buttplate. Small recess under barrel - this model was advertised as having a removable bayonet lug, not present. Bore is fair to good condition, fairly bright, showing frosting and some leading or other accumulation in rifling. Blued barrel has turned gray, some brown color, with scratches & edge losses, some bare spots. Receiver shows a much faded case color, retaining dull grays with slight mottling. Wood is very good, varnished, with scratches & dents. Marked "MODEL 4-S" on barrel, "MILITARY MODEL" on receiver, with generally crisp markings. No serial number observed on metal. Stock marked "4499". Condition is NRA Good++ *** C&R Firearm ***
