The rear sight is a v-notch dovetailed into the barrel. There is a folding aperture screwed into the upper tang. grip/stock configuration & condition: the furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, straight-wrist grip, smooth forend, and a smooth metal remington buttplate. The buttplate has edge wear and surface oxidation. The furniture shows pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches. The lop measures 12. 75" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There is a crack running from the upper and lower tang. The furniture rates in good condition. type of finish: blued, case coloredfinish originality: nonoriginal, there are spots of cold bluebore condition: the bore is grey and the rifling is worn. There is heavy pitting scattered throughout the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 3/10. overall condition: this rifle retains about 30% of its metal finish. The finish shows patina, oxidation, scratches, and spots of cold blue. The screw heads show light tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete.
