Early percussion revolver converted to .44 centerfire cartridge. Stamped 'BIA" and 'C.A. 203' in large block letters on the frame. Includes holster rig with American flag beaded holster, brass belt buckle "USS 9" and a brown felt hat with trade wool hat band and US emblem. Also included is a document from the Department of the Interior Office of Indian Affairs, Washington, D.C. dated March 23, 1882 "To commanding officer, U.S. Cavalry, Fort Davis NAA BAAHN of the Chihuahua Band of the Apache Nation is temporarily assigned to serve your unit an interpreter and/or scout until you can replace him from your ranks NAA BAAHN carries a Spencer carbine #8105 and a Remington #CA203 both of which are personally owned and obtained by him through legitimate means. NAA BAAHN serves us well and we anticipate you and your enlisted will afford him due courtesy. We hope he returns to our agency in the very near future as we are also short handed due to the recent insurrection of some of the Chihuahua band. Yours in God, Abraham Miles Johnsten." Includes a red seal from the US Office. Framed behind glass. Lot does not include the Spencer mentioned in the letter. Includes antique oak showcase measures 33"x26"x13 3/4", missing one piece of glass on side. Revolver exhibits approximately 10% of it's original blued finish with a majority of the metal surfaces turned a dark grey patina with scattered surface rust. The hammer will not stay cocked, bore is very good but does have rust near the muzzle and wood grips are very good showing nail head marks on the bottoms & left panel is marked "USS".
