Remington No. 5 Rolling Block Single-Shot Saddle Ring Carbine, #926, 7mm CF cal., 20.5'' tapered round barrel with standard sights, marked ''Cal. 7 M.M.'' ahead of band and ''1226'' under forend, large No. 1 receiver has auto extraction, integral trigger guard, left-side saddle ring and bar, marked ''926'' at barrel juncture and with maker's name, address and ''Patented Oct'r. 22nd, 1902'' in 3 lines on upper tang; two-piece oil-finished walnut stocks, the forend held by a single barrel band, the buttstock with a right-side sling swivel and straight steel buttplate. Mfg'd ca. 1897-1905, originally with blued barrel, case hardened receiver and buttplate. Condition is about good. Metal surfaces retain no original finishes but a dark gunmetal gray-brown patina (silvering to receiver) with scattered discoloration and light pitting. Stocks are solid showing thin losses at front top of forend (barrel band is missing, as is upper walnut handguard) and a smooth oil finish. Markings are clear; action is smooth; bore is dirty showing vague rifling. Est.: $300-$400. (C&R)
