This is a correct, original arsenal built M1911A1 pistol using a Colt commercial slide, HS barrel and a Remington Rand Slide. The slide has no Remington Rand markings which were often removed during the re-arsenal process. The serial number places it at late 1943 production by Remington Rand. The USGI barrel is stamped "P" & "HS" indicating it was made by High Standard Mfg. Co. Colt Commercial slides were used on RR frames due to urgent wartime necessity. The pistol is completely finished in a wartime parkerized finish including the barrel, barrel bushing, plug and recoil spring guide, it matches perfectly. Has all the correct M1911A1 features, sights, lanyard loo0, grip safety, arched serrated mainspring housing, etc. The checkered bakelite reinforced right grip panel was made by Keyes Fibre Co., the primary grip supplier for Remington Rand, the left panel is marked "5564063" a USGI post-war replacement grip, Korean/Cold war era. The screw hole reinforcing rings are a little wider on the post war The left slide has the two line Colt patent dates and address with Rampant Colt in the middle, the right receiver is marked "United States Property" with serial number below, forward of that is "M1911A1 U.S. Army". Feint crossed cannons ordnance stamp at the rear. "G" is stamped on the frame under the slide, "G" & "O" stamped on the left frame behind the trigger and "P" on the left frame behind the safety button and on top of the slide. "FJA" on the left frame below the slide stop. ( Colonel Frank J. Atwood, Army Inspector of Ordnance 1942-45). The bore is excellent/bright, the slide action is smooth, the grips are excellent and the parkerized finish is about 97% with slight scratches, edge wear. A really nice, correct Ww2 1911A1. Comes with a USGI 7-rd magazine marked "magazine marked 19200-ASSY 5508694 MFR. 1M291" (Check-Mate Industries, 1970's to 1993) and nice desert colored CMP foam lined hard case.
