Antique Remington-Rider Double Action Pocket Revolver, #182, .32 RF cal., 2.25'' octagonal barrel with pin front sight is unmarked; plain 5-shot round cylinder with rear conversion plate; solid frame with long top strap sighting groove, has integral gripstraps and a separate loop trigger guard, blued hammer and trigger; two-piece checkered brown hard rubber grips. Mfg'd post-1873, originally in full-nickel plate finish with fire-blued hammer and trigger. Condition is near fine. Barrel and cylinder retain approx. 75% original nickel with scattered light speckling; the frame, straps and trigger guard retain approx. 96% of what may be a professional refinish (but difficult to determine, even under very close examination); hammer and trigger show bright fire-blue. Grips are smooth and show no wear. Action is crisp and tight; bore is bright with sharp rifling, as are cylinder bores. This pistol left the Remington factory as a cartridge gun (not altered from percussion), as it has a hammer that will work with either percussion or cartridge cylinders, and no recoil shield capping groove; its limited production (only about 2,000 of both types) and factory short barrel make it all the more desirable. Est.: $600-$800. (Antique)
