Remington Rolling Block Breechloading Single Shot Infantry Rifle, with knife bayonet and scabbard, NVSN, 7x57mm cal., 30'' round barrel with high blade front and adjustable ramped rear sights, marked ''Cal. 7M.'' at breech; large No. 1 rolling block action is marked with maker's name, address and 1901 patent date in three lines behind hammer, has separate loop trigger guard; three-piece oil-finished hardwood fullstock is marked ''2/58'' in large numerals at right wrist and left butt, retained by two barrel bands, front with sling swivel, has steel combination nosecap/bayonet lug retaining the slotted cleaning rod, an upper handguard thru which rear sight projects, sling swivel midway down belly, steel buttplate. Condition is good to very good retaining no original metal finishes but an overall lightly roughened rust brown. Stocks are sound showing the expected marks of military use. Rifle is complete and correct; action is strong and smooth; bore is clean showing overall light etching and pronounced spiral rifling. Bayonet is clean gunmetal with sharp ''Remington Arms Co. Ilion, N.Y. U.S.A.'' marking in left gutter; metal scabbard is gunmetal gray with light discoloration, leather frog is sound with good stitching. Est.: $300-$500. (C&R)
