Ross Rifle 303 British Model M-10 Sporter Sporter Straight Pull Bolt Action

The Ross rifle is a straight-pull bolt action rifle chambered in .303 British that was
produced in Canada from 1903 until 1918.

The Ross Mk.II (or "model 1905") rifle was highly successful in target shooting
before World War I, but the close chamber tolerances, lack of primary extraction and
length made the Mk.III (or 1910) Ross rifle unsuitable for the conditions..

By 1916, the rifle had been withdrawn from front line service but continued to be
used by many snipers of the Canadian Expeditionary Force until the end of the war
due to its exceptional accuracy.

This particular unit is in good condition overall. It is dated 1923 on the barrel.

Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked “ROSS RIFLE CO. QUEBEC.
CANADA. PATENTED”. The bottom of the bolt handle is marked 1359.
Top of Barrel is marked with 16 as is the top of receiver.
Also on barrel top is 303 24 Tons Canadian Proof and 1923

Barrel Length: Approximately 24.5 Inches

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a post set atop a raised base. The rear sight is a
BSA Ladder style flip up sight.. The ladder is marked from 0 -20 on the right. It is
mounted just in front of closed bolt.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The hardwood stock with 2 through bolts,
has been cut down from original full wood configuration and a metal buttplate with
sliding door for storage. The buttplate shows scrapes, scratches, and oxidation.
The stock hardware shows scrapes & oxidation. The side of the stock has a silver
initials mounted. Has original sling mount.
The stock shows numerous scrapes, scratches,and compression marks.
Several have damaged small portions of the surface wood. The stock rates in about

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 30% of its metal finish.
