S/42 Mauser P.08 Luger dated 1936, #2580p, 9mm, 4'' barrel, blued finish, some straw finished small parts, factory checkered walnut grips, one blued magazine with aluminum base with matching serial number to gun, and one additional magazine with an unnumbered wood base. Chamber dated 1936, toggle marked S/42 for Mauser production, all visible numbers match, ''(eagle)/63'', and Weimar firing proof on right side of slide. Condition is very good as refinished, retaining approx. 95% of a polished dark blue. Metal parts were not overly buffed and still show some old pitting in a few places. Markings and stamps are clear. Most of the small parts have their original strawed finish, except the safety lever. There is wear to the muzzle edges, front of frame, and high edges of sideplate. Front gripstrap has some old pitting, and the rear strap shows some holster wear. Grips show wear and flattening, some scuffs and scratches. The bore is good with some frosting in the grooves, but still has good lands. Action functions properly, hold-open works when the mag is pushed up home; magazine body shows wear to its original blued finish from use, with some light rust in a few spots. Base of magazine is properly numbered to the gun with an ''(eagle)/63'' proof mark. Extra magazine is an older type with a body that was originally tin plated, but shows much age graying, rust stains, and patched of rust; wood base is cracked and one ear is heavily chipped. Est.: $400-$600. (C&R/PPT)
