Cal. 44 S&W American. S# 28094. Bbl. 6 1/2" with pinned blade (missing bead) sight plus notched barrel latch having windage adjustment. Mfg. 1872-1874 in various barrel lengths; 8" standard. Matching numbered cylinder; barrel numbered 27371, latch numbered 1761 and grips with 2 non matching numbers (1 lined out). Frame under grips void of any service markings. CONDITION: very good appearance with bright blue on frame and slightly less gloss to barrel. Thinning at muzzle, occasional light scratches, mild high point thinning, beginning patina along backstrap and cylinder turn line. Good traces of case coloring remaining on hammer and trigger guard. Occasional spots of pinprick oxidation. All screws of frame exhibit improper screwdriver use to include circular scratch around one sideplate screw. Very good grip appearance with minimal hand wear. Near excellent bore. (01-21165/NW). ANTIQUE. $3,000-5,000.
