SCARCE BROWNING BSL LC2 SXS SHOTGUN MADE BY LEBEAU

COURALLY. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 918CS01060. Bbls. 28". Browning offered these fine guns through the custom shop until around 2006. At that time, the LC2 retailed for over $22,000. This gun has 28" chopperlump barrels fitted with narrow swamped game rib. Tops of barrels are engraved "Browning Assembled by Lebeau-Courally" "Mod. BSL 12 Ga. 2 3/4" Made in Belgium". Barrel flats are stamped with 1986 Belgian Nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers. Coin finished sidelock action features non-automatic safety ("S" inlaid in gold) and double triggers (front hinged). Belgian nitro proofs, serial number and importer's mark are on case hardened water table, otherwise action is not maker marked. Action is nicely filed and engraved with 80% coverage well cut scroll within scroll and geometric borders which surround scenes of game birds. A flushing pheasant is on left lockplate; a duck settles into marsh on right. Bottom of action is engraved with woodcock about to land under an alder tree. Engraver's signature "VOS" (Edouard Vos, noted Browning engraver) is on left side bottom rear of action. Trigger guard with scroll on bow has serial number on tang. Straight grip buttstock of attractively marbled and lightly figured dark European walnut measures 15 1/2" over brown leather covered pad. Nicely shaped drop points are behind lockplates; point pattern checkering with bead borders is at grip; and a vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .724", L .726". Restriction: R .016 (LIGHT MOD), L .024" (MOD). Min. Wall Thickness: R .033", L .032". STOCK: DAH: 2 5/8". DAC: 1 9/16". LOP: 15 1/2". CAST: neutral. WEIGHT: 7 lb. 1 oz. CONDITION: very fine, barrels retaining over 95% original blue with a few light scratches and assembly marks. Action and lockplates retain nearly all of their bright coin finish with evidence of cleaning and some light remaining frosting, mostly on left lockplate pheasant scene. Stocks retain over 90% of their original oil finish with a few minor handling marks, mostly on left side of butt. Checkering shows little wear. Bores are bright and shiny without any noted problems. Action is tight. Barrels are on face. Ejectors are in time. There is a 1/2" by 3/16" chip in wood in left barrel channel tip of forend and a small associated sliver which runs about 3/4" along barrel channel ridge. A very fine collaboration of two famous names in gun making. No Browning collection would be complete without one of these very hard to find high quality guns. (22-4530/MGM). MODERN. $10,000-20,000.
