REVOLVER. Cal. 31. S# 8610. Bbl. 6" oct. Brass pin front sight, 2-line New York City address w/ dashes, made w/ out loading assembly unique to this model. Left side of frame has sm. “COLTS PATENT”, silver plated square back brass trigger guard & backstrap, walnut grip, 5-shot cyl. w/ remnants of rolled “stagecoach holdup scene”. This is Colt’s first pocket sized revolver after Paterson models & were made from 1847-1850, this example in 1849. CONDITION: good-very good overall, appears original & matching other than wedge which is numbered “535”. Metal mixed mottled gray patina, S#s & address easily read. Grip frame retains most of its silver plate. Well fit grips have matching S# & tiny trace of varnish, heavy edge wear. Mechanically functional w/ well-defined rifled bore.
