BOLT ACTION YOUTH CARBINE FOR THE OPERA NAZIONALE BALILLA. Cal. 6.5 Blank. S# D7736. This dainty rifle produced by FNA Brescia has the same appearance as the 1891 Cavalry Carbines, yet smaller dimensions. According to "The Model 1891 Carcano Rifle" by Giovani Chegia & Alberto Simonelli, these rifles were used by the Opera Nazionale Balilla, Mussolini's Youth organization from 1926-1937. Left side of stock has plaque reading "Fascista AMADEI EDOARDO / Caduto II 5 Agosto 1922 / Sala Baganza (Parma)" appearing to commemorate Amadei Edoardo, who died on August 5th, 1922 in Sala Baganza, a town close to Parma of Northern Italy near Milan. This rifle's 14.5" bbl. has a blade front sight & folding bayonet assembly w/ latch locking. Tangent rear sight. Top of receiver has "ONB" crest. Blue finish w/ case colored bolt. Hardwood stock set w/ leather sling & trapdoor buttplate. Left side of stock has non matching # "7756". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: rare khaki sling. 2 Piece cleaning rod in buttstock. CONDITION: Good blue fading to brown w/ moderate handling marks in action around along w/ patina & pinprick oxidation. Bolt has brown patina w/ case colors in protected areas. Sanded & refinished stock has good finish w/ moderate handling marks. Very good rifled bore. (22-633/MD). CURIO. $400-600.
