ACTION SNIPER RIFLE WITH SCOPE. Cal. 303 Brit. S# 12C4323. Bbl. 25". Rifle was converted from early production Savage made No. 4 by renowned English gun maker Holland & Holland. This rifle is apparently early production as it has the plunger type bolt head retainer instead of the slotted rail. Rifle marked on left side of receiver "S" "NO. 4" "MK1" & "Dated 1942". Rifle marked on left side of butt socket w/ "ENGLAND" export mark. Bolt w/ matching S# lightly polished. Adj. rear sight graduated to 1,300yds. Sight marked "S" & has had battle aperture removed to clear telescopic sight. Blade front sight w/ stamped protective ears. Trigger has added aftermarket "shoe". Hardwood stock set w/ added cheekpiece attached by 2 steel screws. Buttstock marked at bottom "S51" indicating conversion by Holland & Holland. Also marked w/ "S" behind trigger guard w/ "S" & crown acceptance mark. Cast metal trap buttplate. Brass oiler in butt dated "17". Rifle is equipped w/ No. 32 telescopic sight marked "TEL STG NO 32 MKIII OS 2039 A AK&S NO 22952 1945" "broad arrow". Also marked w/ red painted "W" which indicates scope made more waterproof. Scope has post & crosshair reticle. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original leather scope caps w/ faint "B.H.G." "1941" "broad arrow". CONDITION: stock set retains most of its original finish w/ light wear & scattered handling marks. Metal has 80% original finish w/ thinning & light wear. Telescope has spots of sm. areas of missing finish & light overall wear. Telescope adjustments appear to be locked & are not readily moved. Optics appear clear & serviceable except that reticle has roughened appearance. Very good shiny bore. (22-316/RW). CURIO. $3,000-5,000.
