SCARCE & DESIRABLE PARKER REPRODUCTION 28 / 410

GAUGE 2 BARREL SET WITH CASE. Cal. 28 Ga./410. S# 28-00216. The Parker reproduction by Winchester was introduced in 1984. The lowest grade produced was "D" & over 3,500 were made in 28 ga. This gun has a very unusual additional set of 410 bbls. also w/ Winchester markings & correct S#. "The Parker Story" relates that only 11 were produced. Both bbl. sets measure 26". The 28 Ga. set has Winchester nomenclature on left side of bbl. and unmarked matted rib. The 410 set has Winchester markings in unmatted portion of rib. 28 Ga. bbls. stamped w/ grade & cal. information on left side of lump w/ bottom stamped "I" & "F". Bbl. flats on both sets stamped with Parker overload proofs & chokes, (IC & MOD) along w/ serial numbers. 28 Ga. have a "28" as a prefix to this number, 410 bbls. have a "410" prefix. These bbls. also stamped for 000 frame size on bottom of rear lump. Case hardened Parker type boxlock action features automatic safety, lightening cuts in water table and Parker single selective trigger. Action engraved in typical late "D" grade style w/ 80% coverage of scroll surrounding dogs on sides (pointing setter on left & pointer on right). "Parker" is engraved on bottom of action. Trigger plate has matching scroll surrounding group of three pheasant. Blued trigger guard engraved w/ scroll on bow & S# on tang. Attractively marbled & nicely figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 1/4" over skeleton steel buttplate. Stock has typical "D" styling w/ lozenge shaped drop points, point pattern checkering at grip & lg. vacant silver oval on toeline. Matching splinter ejector forend services both bbl. sets & has usual Parker style release. MEASUREMENTS: STOCK: DAH: 2 1/4". DAC: 1 1/2". LOP: 14 1/4". CAST: 0. WEIGHT: 5 lbs. 9 oz. (28 Ga.). UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun & both sets of bbls. housed in brown leatherette case w/ stitched leather corners accompanied by tan leather trimmed brown canvas outer cover w/ zippered closure. Case interior lined in green felt & has space for action & both bbl. sets. Case has gold embossed Parker Reproduction oval label in lid. Bottom compartment contains gold plated oil bottle, pair of Parker marked 28 ga. snap caps & 2 keys. CONDITION: very fine, close to "as new". Bbls. retaining essentially all of their rust black. Action retains over 90% of its original notoriously fragile case hardening color. Stocks retain nearly all their original shiny varnish finish w/ a few very minor marks. Except for being dirty, bbls. show very little evidence of ever being fired. Action is tight. Ejectors are in time. Trigger appears to work well. Case is very fine w/ adhesions on outside of lid. Label is good w/ some marks & lifting of corners. Interior cloth is very fine, lightly soiled & dusty. Parker reproductions have been leaping ahead in price over the years. While a good quantity of 28 ga. guns were made, "The Parker Story" indicates that only 11 DH guns were made w/ 410 bbls. This gun presents an almost unique investment potential. (21-3972/MGM). MODERN. $8,000-12,000.
