BOLT ACTION MILITARY CARBINE. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 2865a. All visible numbers match. Bbl. 19 1/4". Tangent rear sight graduated to 1000 meters. Inverted V front sight with protective hood. This very fine example of a G33/40 carbine has correct features and original finish. These carbines were based on the Czech VZ 33 with changes made to bring it into line with German service requirements. The most noteworthy feature is the addition of a steel plate on the left side of the butt which was thought to be helpful in mountain climbing for the mountain troops to whom many, if not most, of these carbines were issued. The receiver ring is marked on top "dot" "1942" and "eagle 63". Marked on the left side with German "eagle" proof. The left receiver rail is marked with G. 33/40. The bolt with the correct hollow knob has a German "eagle" proof on top and underneath with "eagle" 63 and "N6". Bayonet bar and cleaning rod are present. Sling mount on the side with well worn original leather sling. Laminated stock set. Cup type buttplate and steel disassembly disk. Correct steel plate on the left side of the butt. CONDITION: Stock set has light wear and handling marks with a notable abrasion on the right side of the butt. Metal retains 75% of its original blue finish with thinning and light wear.
