SEMI-AUTO CARBINE. Cal. 30 Carb. S# 1770766. Bbl. 18" marked behind front sight “UNDERWOOD” “flaming bomb” & “10-42”. Flip type rear sight marked “RP” on right side & “S” on left side. Dovetail does not show evidence of staking. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Sight base marked “N”. This scarce version of the M1 Carbine was initially contracted by the hardware manufacturer Irwin Pedersen, but due to a default the contract was finished by Saginaw Steering Gear. This desirable Carbine is from the first serial number block of the Irwin Pedersen produced guns, but is fitted with an “SG” marked bolt. Unmarked narrow bbl. band w/ rectangular swivel. Straight cut slide marked “IP”. Flat bolt marked “SG”. Milled trigger housing marked “IP” w/ push button safety. Safety marked on left side “IP-A”. Mag. catch marked “IP-W”. Dogleg hammer marked “IP”. I-cut high wood walnut stock. Stock marked at end of grip w/ circle “P” proof & marked in sling slot w/ “IR-IP” & ordnance bomb. Unmarked buttplate w/ square checkering pattern. Recoil plate is unmarked. 2 rivet deep grooved handguard marked “RSG”. Green web sling w/ oiler. MAGS: none. CONDITION: stock set has light wear & scattered handling marks but outside has been given a restorative cleaning. Metal has 80% original Parkerized finish w/ very light wear.
