CO. SXS SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 Ga. S# 52190. Bbl. 30". Ainsley H. Fox did not want to confuse buyers when he introduced a low cost shotgun & marked his earliest “THE STERLINGWORTH CO”. S#s started at 50,000. Has 30" bbls. fitted w/ matted rib & marked on the tops “STERLINGWORTH FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL MADE BY" "THE STERLINGWORTH COMPANY – PHILADELPHIA, PA. U.S.A.” Bbl. flats stamped w/ S#. Case hardened action w/ Fox rotary bolt has recessed “Parker” pin & later style pointed transitions on sides. Action engraved w/ zigzag borders & some minor decorative cuts & is marked “THE STERLINGWORTH CO.” on both sides. S# is on water table & trigger guard tang. Relatively plain. American walnut capped pistol grip, buttstock measures 13 7/8" to end of wood (buttplate missing). Point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching splinter forend has J spring release. MEASUREMENTS: bore dia.: left 7.24, right 7.24. Bore Restriction: left .35 full, right .35 full. Wall Thickness: left .37, right .35. DAH: 2 11/16". DAC: 1 1/2". WEIGHT: 7 lbs. 6 oz. CONDITION: very good. Bbls. retaining approx. 80% original blue. Action retains approx. half of its original color. Stocks retain most of their original finish w/ numerous both light & heavy scratches. Finish worn through on some sharp edges & around bottom of forend. Checkering somewhat worn & dirty. Buttplate missing. Bores are fine, shiny w/ some light frosting & a couple of minor striations in right bbl. w/ no evident repairs. Action is tight. Mechanically good. (21-1918/MGM). MODERN. $600-1,000.
