SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 5/8". S# 14689 (1909). The 30" bbls. w/ slightly raised matted game rib are marked "Krupp Fluid Steel Made By" " A.H. Fox Gun Co. Phillip PA." on tops. There are 3" triangles of attractive scroll engraving at breech ends. Case hardened boxlock Fox action w/ usual rotary bolt features non-automatic safety & nickel plated dbl. triggers. Action fitted w/ early style rnd. pin ejector tips. Action engraved in early "D" style w/ sprays of varying size but mostly lg. open shaded scroll w/ line & geometric borders. These surround sm. detailed game scenes toward rear w/ feeding quail under lg. tree on left side & snipe in open meadow on right. "Ansley H. Fox" on each side. Bottom of action has circular vignette of pointing setter w/ pointer in distance honoring point. Trigger plate & trigger guard bow engraved w/ matching scroll. S# on trigger guard tang. Straight grip buttstock of attractively marbled & flame figured European walnut measures 14" over leather faced solid red pad. Side panels are checkered & there is closely spaced point pattern checkering at grip. Matching splinter ejector forend w/ usual Fox style Deeley type release has "PATENTS" "PENDING" on vine border engraved iron. MEASUREMENTS: bbls.: bore diameter: right: - .725", left: - .727". Choke restriction: right: - .030", left: - .038". Minimum wall Thickness: right: - .034", left: - .035". STOCK: DAH: 2 5/16". DAC: 1 1/2". CAST: 0. LOP: 14". WEIGHT: 7 lbs. 8 oz. CONDITION: fine as partially restored. Bbls. retaining over 80% of what appears to be original blue w/ overall light pin prick flecking & some high edge wear. Thinning at sides and muzzles. Damascening on bbl. flats & cocking slide still strong. Action retains approx. 30-40% original case hardening color which is quite strong where protected. The balance is very pleasing smooth silver. Trigger guard has traces of original case hardening color. Buttstock retains nearly all of a glossy varnish refinish over bumps & knocks w/ a few subsequent scratches. Sharp edges are rounded. Checkering recut. Pad is relatively new. Forend also refinished. Checkering competently recut. Bores are bright & shiny w/ no evidence of repairs or dents visible. Action is tight. Top lever very slightly left of center. Left ejector will not fire. (21-3990/MGM). CURIO. $8,000-12,000.
