IN HIGH ORIGINAL CONDITION. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 160258 (circa 1938). These lower priced guns were introduced in 1935 for the recently invented shooting game of skeet. The 26" bbls. fitted w/ fairly high matted rib are marked "Sterlingworth fluid compressed steel" "Savage Arms Corp." w/ address on tops. Bbl. flats stamped w/ S#. Case hardened action w/ typical Fox rotary bolt features automatic safety & dbl. triggers. Action engraved "FOX STERLINGWORTH" in zigzag borders & a few acanthus flourishes. Straight grip stock of plain American walnut measures 14 1/8" over ribbed hard rubber buttplate. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching full splinter forend has spring tension release. MEASUREMENTS: bbls.: bore diameter: right: .731", left: .730". Restriction: right: .002" (IC), left: .014". (MOD). Minimum Wall Thickness: right: .030", left: .028". STOCK: DAH: 2 5/16". DAC: 1 1/2". LOP: 14 1/8". CAST: 0. WEIGHT: 6 lbs. 14 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun housed in an Abercrombie & Fitch marked VC case w/ stitched leather corners lined in burgundy cloth. Case contains straps & pair of 12 ga. snap caps. CONDITION: exceptionally fine, close to as new w/ some minor staining & a few marks on bbls. & action. Action retains nearly all of its original case hardening color w/ some sharp edge wear. Protective varnish is dulled & crazed. Trigger guard retains essentially all of its original blue. Triggers still have their original bright polish. Stocks retain over 95% original varnish, loss due to some minor scratches & bumps. Checkering still light in color. Bright shiny bores, mechanically fine. Case leather is still somewhat light in color, has numerous scrapes and rubs. Handle is fair to good. Interior cloth is fairly good with marks and compressions.
