SCARCE FRENCH CONTRACT M1914 ROLLING BLOCK RIFLE
SERIAL NUMBER: NSN. BARREL: 30". CALIBER: 8MM LEBEL. MANUFACTURED: Circa 1915. Made by Remington UMC for the French Government, who was very short on rifles during WW1. No import marks found. Barrel is marked "CAL.8MM" in front of the hand guard. Company address and patent dates on the top of the tang. Standard sights. Military blued finish and case colored frame. Wood has a light oil finish. Smooth metal butt plate. CONDITION: Metal is good overall, with general wear and light brown patina. Frame has a light gray patina to it. Wood has numerous scrapes and scratches. Hand guard is cracked, and has been glued at some point. Bore is shiny with strong rifling. Hammer spring is tight. Extractor is present. A fairly rare gun in the U.S. as most were exported, unlike the Remington contract Berthier's. C&R
