BARREL TRAP GUN. Cal. 12 Ga. 2 3/4". S# 37207. In the 60s, these specialized trap guns were suggested by two new American directors of Holland & Holland, Elliott Coyle and John Batten, as a way to sell a fair number of guns. This gun has 32" monobloc bbl. with wide flat matted ventilated rib. Rear portion of rib is engraved "Holland & Holland." "13 Bruton Street" "London." in unmatted rectangle. Sides of monoblock are engraved with well cut open scroll. Bbl. flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chamber. Casehardened Anson & Deeley top lever action is nicely filed, and is engraved with near full coverage varying size open shaded scroll, within geometric borders. "Holland & Holland" is on scrolled banner on each side. Top lever, floorplate, and trigger guard are engraved with matching scroll. Well streaked and lightly fiddle figured European walnut, hard rubber capped, pistol grip buttstock measures 15" over brown leather covered pad. Point pattern checkering with mullered borders is at grip, and a silver oval engraved "K.G." is on toe line. Matching semi-beavertail ejector forend attaches to bbl. with spring tension release backed up by secondary screw, which is tapped into loop. Head has wide slot for coin use. MEASUREMENTS: BBL.: Bore Diameter: .726". Restriction: .035" (EXTRA FULL). Minimum Wall Thickness: .055". STOCK: DAH: 1 13/16". DAC: 1 3/8". CAST: approx. 1/4" on. LOP: 15". WEIGHT: 8 lbs. 15 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is accompanied by relatively new, blue ABS leather trimmed two gun hard case embossed "Famars". Interior is lined in green velvet. CONDITION: very fine, original. Bbl. retaining over 95% original blue with some sharp edge wear. Action retains over 95% of its casehardening color, lightly silvered at rear of top tang. Top lever is silver at top of thumb piece and trigger guard shows some silver at rear of its very short tang. Stocks retain most of what appears to be their original oil finish with some scattered marks and light scratches. Checkering is somewhat worn. Bore is bright and shiny. Action is tight. Ejector is strong. Case is good. (22-983/MGM). MODERN. $5,000-8,000.
