LEE ENFIELD BOLT ACTION MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 303 Brit. S# E18158. Bbl. 25". Serial numbers match on receiver, bolt, rear sight, nose cap & forend. The rifles marked w/ encircled "FF" (Fianna Fail which is Gaelic for "Men of Destiny" was supplied by Britain to the national army of the newly formed Republic of Ireland in 1921. Butt socket is marked on right side w/ crown "GR" "B.S.A. Co." "1917" "SHT L.E. III" "star". Receiver ring & bbl. marked on top w/ encircled "FF". Marking on receiver ring has shallow cut to the right of the letter Fs. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 yards. Bbl. is marked "HV" under rear sight. Blade front sight. Nose cap has protective ears & bayonet mt. Walnut stock set. Buttstock marked "L" at heel. Unmarked brass disk at right side of butt. MAGS: 1 detachable 10 rd. CONDITION: stock set has moderate wear, dents, scratches & staining throughout. Buttstock has notably better finish indicating an early replacement. Metal has traces of blue turning gray w/ light wear. Bore has worn lands w/ light frosting in grooves. (22-596/RW). CURIO. $400-600.
