Cal.7.62 NATO. S# 698330 Matches on bolt and receiver. Import marked on left side of rear sight base. Bbl: 23 5/8". This rifle is hard to find with matching numbers. It was made for Israel by FN originally in 8x57 Mauser w/ a blued finish. The receiver has the Israeli "sword and olive branch" crest on top with Belgian proofs on the right side. The left side carries the S# and two Hebrew characters. The left receiver rail is marked "FAB. NAT. D'ARMES de GUERRE/ HERSTAL- BELGIQUE. The receiver ring and buttstock were marked with a prominent 7.62 when the rifles were converted in Israel to that caliber in the late 1950's. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters. One piece sight base. Inverted "V" front sight w/ pinned on hood. Matching bolt. Bolt shroud, safety and follower are blue. Trigger guard is not matching and is marked with two WaA 280. Magazine has a metal spacer installed in the front to insure correct feeding. Narrow lower band, retained by spring, w/swivel on left side. "H" type upper band retained by pin. Bayonet bar is present. Cleaning rod is missing. Walnut stock set w/o grasping grooves is marked at toe "7.62". Cup type buttplate. M98K style handguard. CONDITION: stock set has the wear and handling marks comensurate with hard service. The grey green arsenal rework finish retains 60%of its Parkerization with thinning and wear. Very good bright shiny bore. (24-1403/RW). CURIO. $700-1,100.
