SCARCE LC SMITH CROWN GRADE SXS TRAP GUN.

Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# RE35724. LC Smith only made about 890 of this popular high grade offering; 644 in 12 Ga. This gun has 32" bbls. w/ slightly raised matted rib. Tops of bbls. engraved "LC SMITH Crown GRADE" "MADE TO ORDER BY THE Hunter Arms Co. Inc" "FULTON, N.Y.". Engine turned bbl. flats marked w/ S# & "C". Bbls. have 1 1/2" triangles of simple scroll on breech ends. Splinter is of reinforced type as used in guns having beavertail forends. Case hardened, standard weight, sidelock action features non automatic safety, rotary bolt fastener & Hunter selective "One Trigger". Action engraved w/ 80% coverage sprays of scrolls & floral highlights w/in line & geometric borders. A gold inlaid crown is on top lever pivot. Lockplates have matching scroll & borders surrounding oval vignettes of bird dogs, which are etched in semi relief & engraved w/ fine detail. A pair of pointing setters at meadow's edge are on left lockplate & pointing pointers are alert to quarry under a spruce tree on right. "LC SMITH" is on each lockplate. Trigger guard w/ scroll & flowers on bow has S# on tang. Full flame figured crotch American walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 13 1/2" over Silver type pad. Usual fancy pattern closely spaced checkering wraps over top of grip. Matching long beavertail ejector forend engraved w/ patent information on iron & has usual J spring release w/ secondary knurled button release in guitar shaped escutcheon. MEASUREMENTS: BARRELS: bore diameter: right .729", left .729". Restriction: right .035" (Full), left .030" (Full). Min. Wall Thickness: right .028", left .029", STOCKS: LOP: 13 1/2". DAC: 1 1/2" DAH: 1 5/8". No cast. WEIGHT: 8 lbs., 7 oz. CONDITION: fine as partially restored. Bbls. retain nearly all good quality rust reblack. Action & lockplates retain most of their original case hardening color, balance worn to a pleasing silver gray adding depth to very fine engraving. Stocks retain a considerable amount of their original finish w/ some light marks. Butt area w/ light refinish at time of replacement of pad. Checkering lightly worn & dark. Bores are very fine. Action is tight. Mechanically good. There are stress cracks behind each lockplate. (21-2539/MGM). CURIO. $4,000-8,000.
