W/ REGISTRATION PAPERS. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 8270. Bbl. 23 5/8". Rifle is standard Steyr produced BNZ 43 rifle. Likely captured in Russia & supplied to North Vietnam as military aid. According to registration papers, rifle was captured by the Long Range Patrol Detachment of the 9th Infantry Division prior to the 20 Dec 1967 date on the paperwork. Receiver is marked on left rail Mod.98. Receiver ring marked on top w/ faint "bnz 43". Has the Russian stamp crossed rifles indicating a wartime capture. Receiver also retains German eagle proof. Bbl. is marked over chamber w/ German eagle proof "Bo". Waffenamt 623, W encased in double circle. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. Inverted V front sight. Milled bbl. bands. Bayonet bar is present. Cleaning rod is not present. Stamped trigger guard is marked "byf". Milled floorplate. Hardwood stock set w/ steel take down hole & cup type buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: registration papers. CONDITION: stock set has worn lightly stained original finish w/ scattered dents & scratched throughout. Crudely filled repair at bottom beside trigger guard on right side. 2" Crack behind receiver tang. Metal has turned overall gray & patina w/ notable oxidation & pitting throughout. Trigger guard on floorplate has numerous small dents. Bullet turning back in grooves but w/ strong lands. (21-3088/RW). CURIO. $600-900.
