LEBEL RIFLE AMMO CRATE. The Robin Hood Ammunition company was started in 1898 & moved to Swanton, VT in 1909. During WWI, the company & factory was bought by Remington-UMC to produce 8mm Lebel ammunition along Remington's Berthier & Rolling Block firearms contracts. After the Armistice, the company business closed down as demand contracted. This 18" x 13.5" x 9" wooden ammo crate has sides dovetail attached & bottom floor nailed to side. This crate was to hold 1120 8mm Lebel cartridges. Box has a myriad of paints finished CONDITION: very good overall condition w/ grain checks & moderate handling marks. Markings appear clear. Bottom of box has added rnd. pads. (02-16599-8/MD). $200-400.
