2ND MODEL LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 44-40. S# 74224. Bbl. 24" oct. & full length mag. Sporting front sight, elevator adj. V notch sporting rear sight w/ Winchester thick base mid range Vernier tang sight. Case colored action w/ single set trigger. Rifle forearm & straight grip stock of nicely grained black walnut w/ steel shotgun butt. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Firearms museum letter dated Nov. 14, 2009 listing the following information "Type: Rifle / Barrel Type: Octagon / Trigger: Set / Shotgun butt / Casehardened / Receiver in warehouse September 1, 1881 / Shipped from warehouse on September 2, 1881, Order number 27339". CONDITION: action, forearm cap & shotgun buttplate have restored case colors by Doug Turnbull Restorations. Receiver & forearm cap retain over 90% lightly faded case colors w/ scattered light spots of surface corrosion that provide just enough wear to appear totally untouched. Buttplate has lightly visible case colors w/ spots of corrosion. Bbl., mag. tube & wood have restored finish by Roger's Winchester Restorations, Placentia, CA. Bbl. & mag tube retain over 97% restored finish showing light edge wear w/ spots of freckling, again just enough wear to look original. Wood has very good red toned finish w/ line of epoxy creating a tight fit around action. Wood shows just enough scattered scratches & marks to give an aged appearance.
