ACTION MAUSER (243) RIFLE. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 3907k. Bbl. 23 3/4". All visible numbers match. Very nice early WWII production Mauser 98K rifle w/ eagle "L" marking on buttstock indicating the rifle was issued to the German Luftwaffe. Receiver ring marked on top w/ "243" "1939". Marked on right side w/ 3 German eagles; 1 is indistinct, 2 are numbered "26". Receiver & bbl. marked on left side w/ German eagle proofs. Left receiver rail marked "Mod. 98". Tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000m. Inverted V front sight. Sight base not milled for protective hood. Cleaning rod is not correct. Bayonet bar is present. All milled furniture. "H" type upper band. Bands are retained by single spring. Laminated stock set. Buttstock marked on right side w/ eagle over "L" & two eagle "WaA 26". Marked under grip w/ eagle "WaA 26". Stock marked at belly w/ German eagle & S#. Steel disassembly disk. Flat type buttplate. Original German leather sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: steel stamped sight & muzzle protector. CONDITION: stock set has original finish w/ light wear & scattered handling marks throughout. Metal retains 70% thinning original blue w/ light wear. Very good shiny bore.
