SHORT BARRELED FLINTLOCK NORTHWEST INDIAN TRADE

GUN BY PARKER FIELD & CO. Cal. 60. NSN. The 22" octagon to round barrel has London proofs on top left flat at rear. Flintlock with rounded plate is fitted with reinforced cock, integral rounded pan, bridled frizzen and feather spring with dog nose finial. Center is stamped with classic tombstone fox cartouche and the initials "EB" this mark is also on top of barrel. Tail of lock is marked "PARKER FIELD" "& CO" "1878" "LONDON". Walnut stock extends to muzzle with sheet brass cap and is fitted with brass buttplate held by five screws, oversized trigger and steel trigger guard, as well as classic sea monster sideplate affixed by three large screws. Lockplate, sideplate and barrel tang are accented by carved moldings. Circular fox stamp is on left side of butt. Hickory ramrod mounts through a multi beaded brass pipe and simple hole in stock as thimble. CONDITION: good, original "as found". Iron parts cleaned to mostly bright with scattered overall light rusting. Stock retains most of its original finish. Bore is bright with light pitting toward muzzle, lock good.
