Cal. 16 Ga. / 9.3 x 72R. 2 1/2", (360 Groove Dia). S# 35781. Bbl. 26 7/8", fitted w/ full length matted rib holding pop up rear sight & silver bead front. Bbl. flats stamped w/ pre WWI German nitro proofs for 16 Ga. & 9.3x72 cartridges. Case hardened sidelock action has rifle selector on top tang, side safety is mounted on tail of left lockplate. Action features cross bolt 3rd fastener, bushed strikers, raised rib tumbler end cocking indicators & dbl. triggers on Nimrod patent action having auxiliary locking notches on water table w/ corresponding Nimrod stamp & logos. Action engraved w/ line borders & some scroll. Right lockplate is engraved “Nimrod-Gewvher-Fabrik”. Left lock engraved “THIEME & SCHLEGELMILCH / SUHL”. Lightly figured European walnut sunburst horn capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14 1/4" over open sided "J.C. Higgins" pad. Stock features right hand shadow line cheekpiece & point pattern checkering. Sling loops have been removed from toeline & bottom of bbl. MEASUREMENTS: bore diameter: left .668, right .668. Bore Restrictions: left .028 Mod., right .021 Mod. Wall Thickness: left .025, right .028. DAH: 2 7/8". DAC: 1 5/8". WEIGHT: 7 lbs. 5 oz. CONDITION: good. Bbls. retaining most of an old reblack w/ considerable scattered pitting. Action cleaned to silver gray. Stocks retain most of an old oil refinish. Checkering badly recut at grip. Forend has not been refinished & is considerably worn. Bores are good w/ pitting scattered throughout w/ sharp dent in top of right bbl. about 10" back from muzzle, which should be repaired before firing. Action is tight. Mechanically good.
