Antique Swiss military tube-fed bolt action repeating rifle chambered in 10.4×38mm Swiss Rimfire, manufactured circa 1870's. Features a blued/case hardened finish, 33" barrel, blade front sight, rear sight graduated to 1,000 meters, cruciform bayonet, 11 round tubular magazine, smooth trigger, no magazine cut-off or loading gate cover, cleaning rod, three barrel bands, cocked indicator, black leather sling, checkered wood forend and straight grip shoulder stock with smooth metal buttplate. The receiver is marked "55871," "SOC.IND.SUISSE/[swiss cross]/SYST.VETTERLIN," "SW" & "+/M." The barrel is stamped "+/3," "1553.," "B," "W/A78" and others. Serial numbers match on the receiver, barrel and lifter. The barrel displays a solid brown finish with some corrosion near the muzzle, the barrel bands display rich blued colors with the name "W.O. Caldwell" scratched into the rear band and the receiver displays a grey patina with traces of case colors. Action is mechanically sound, the bore is pristine and the wood stocks are very good.
