Cal. 45 ACP. S# S86358. Bbl. 5 1/2" w/ semi-circular integral front sight. Six-shot fluted cyl. "N" frame five screw action w/ pinned bbl. Blue finish w/ case-colored hammer & trigger. Diamond-checkered square butt service grips w/ silver S&W medallions. The scarce model 1950 was introduced in November of 1951 and reassigned model number 22 in 1957. It is a revived version of the Model 1917 w/ a short throw action & new hammer block. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter from the Office of Smith & Wesson Revolver Manufacturers detailing the following information: "We have researched your .45 Military Model of 1950, Five Screw Variation, caliber .45 ACP or .45 Auto Rim, in company records. They indicate that your handgun, with butt serial number S86358, was shipped from our Roosevelt Avenue factory on June 11, 1952. It was delivered to the National Sporting Goods Company Inc., 310 East Baltimore Street, Baltimore, Maryland. The records indicate that this revolver was shipped with a 5.5-inch barrel, fixed sights, blue finish, and checkered walnut square butt stocks with silver Smith & Wesson medallions. There were five (5) in this order, all in the same configuration. They were billed at the wholesale price of $43.09 each.". CONDITION: over 97% original blue, showing a cyl. drag line and light muzzle wear. Grips show light finish wear & small marks. Very good, bright bore.
