SPECTACULAR PHOTO ALBUM TAKEN FROM ADOLF
HITLER’S EAGLE'S NEST BY A MEMBER OF THE 101ST AIRBORNE. An incredible original photo album possibly belonging to Adolf Hitler & possibly taken by his personal photographer, Heinrich Hoffmann. This historic album was taken from Adolf Hitler’s underground living quarters in the mountains at Berchtesgaden, Germany. A notarized handwritten letter by Corporal Warren J. Bettenhausen of Company L of the 327th Glider Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division is included w/ the album. Cpl. Bettenhausen personally liberated the album from Hitler’s living quarters during the 101st Airborne’s occupation of the area around Berchtesgaden. The inside title page of the album is signed by Warren Bettenhausen. The exceptional photographs, many of which depict Hitler himself, show a myriad of high ranking Nazi officials along w/ Mussolini. Each picture is dated & identified in German above & below the photo. Hermann Goring appears in many of the pictures. There are photos of staff meetings & walks in the winter scenery. The album appears to cover late 1941 through 1942. A truly unique opportunity to obtain personal images of the leader of the Third Reich & many of his accomplices. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: a notarized letter attesting to the origin of the album. A photograph of Cpl. Warren Bettenhausen. Information on Bettenhausen gleaned from the internet. Personal correspondence about the photo album. CONDITION: album is well worn but the photographs are clear, crisp & undamaged. (02-15026/BF). $2,500-3,000.
