SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 1911 SEMI-AUTO PISTOL RIG.

Cal. 45 ACP. S# 77447. Bbl. 5" period Colt Type 3. Mfg. Spring, 1914 for Army contract; 11,285 units. Springfield models had every sm. part stamped w/ "S"; only parts of this pistol appropriately stamped are flat mainspring housing w/ lanyard loop & hammer that appears to be Type C used from S# 82000 onward rather than Type B used w/ 76000-82000 (both hammers are very similar w/ minute difference). Grips are Colt (L) w/ 15 rows between dbl. diamonds plus Springfield (R) w/ 11 rows. Slide & frame are both Springfield but not original to each other. Firing pin stop of Springfield's has beveled top; this one is replacement. Other sm. parts that are replacements have proper outward appearance but likely by Colt. Correct sights including flat topped U notched rear. Appropriate proofs & markings. MAGS: 1 fair 7 rd. by American Pin w/out detent at feed lip; lack of finish fails to show 2 tone appearance. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: box of recent production UMC 230 gr. MC ammo w/ stock # L45AP4. Very good pre period garrison belt w/ copper buckle showing U.S. when latched. Good GNK 1918 dated US flap holster w/ light bleached appearance having spiral gray toned raw hide piece through bottom eyelet. CONDITION: good plus appearance w/ typical light marks & holster like high point wear. Rear of slide & adjacent frame area indicates older refinish w/ replacement extractor. Grip area w/out finish except mainspring housing w/ gray tone. "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on left side of frame is especially vivid & distinctly stamped. About good bore w/ distinct rifling having light wear plus light even pitting showing in corners of grooves. (21-2974/NW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
