SPRINGFIELD ARMORY BM59 SEMI AUTO RIFLE.

Cal. 7.62mm (308 Win.). S# 0000534. Bbl. 23" over brake. Heavily resembling a crossover between the M-1 Garand & the M-14, the Italian BM59 is a creature all to itself. Bridging the gap between the 2 systems we have the receiver style of the M-1 Garand w/ the detachable mag. capabilities of the M-14 in the 7.62 NATO cartridge. Housed in a beautiful right side folding pistol grip hardwood & metal stock w/ wooden bbl. shroud it enjoys a light stain that still illustrates the original wood grain. It has an interesting muzzle brake, sometimes referred to as a Tri-comp, doubling as a grenade launcher, also including a folding grenade sight system. A rugged bipod providing over 11" of clearance, folds tightly under the forearm of the stock when not employed. The front sight is a protected blade style w/ a rear notch sight that is micro adj. for both windage & elevation. The receiver is designed to be top loaded utilizing stripper clips even though it utilizes a detachable 20 rd. proprietary box mag. Rear portion of the receiver marked “7.62mm BM59 / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY". Right side reciprocating charging handle. Folding Winter trigger. Safety is located internally at front of trigger guard. High end scope mt. w/ ART IV 3x9 scope. Sling swivels front & rear. Several components individually marked “PB BM59”. MAGS: none. CONDITION: all exposed metal surfaces finished in factory dark black enjoying complete coverage. Hardwood stock has a satin finish w/ very little thinning except at areas of mechanical intervention & a few light impressions typically caused by rack storage. Pistol grip finish is thin on right side & bottom. Folding stock mechanism locks positively in both open & closed positions. Bore is shiny w/ decent rifling. Art IV scope appears clear & functional. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (21-2961/JZ). MODERN. $1,500-2,250.
