UPGRADED AT FT BENNING BY GLENN NELSON TO NM STANDARDS USED ON NATIONAL GUARD MATCH TEAM. Cal. 308 Win. S# 000061. Bbl. 24 3/4" including flash suppressor. Stainless steel bbl. is unmarked. NM rear sight including adj. aperture. Blade front sight with protective ears marked .062. Consignor states rifle was sent to Ft. Benning as reworked to National Match standards by the late Glenn Nelson and was used in National Guard matches including those at Camp Robinson, AR. The receiver is marked "U.S. RIFLE 7.62-mm M1A / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY TRADEMARK". The S# of 000061 indicates very early production. The bolt is marked "SA". The action was not given a rear lug but is tightly bedded into the stock showing very nice workmanship. Operating rod is marked "TRW". Gas system has been unitized for match use. Trigger housing is marked "HR", hammer marked "SA". Rifle is equipped with an M2 military bipod. Brown fiberglass handguard. Buttstock is heavy match profile with very nice figured wood. Buttstock has Army National Guard decal on right side. Stock is equipped with taped "Zero" information on right side below receiver. "BOYT" brown leather Model 1907 style sling. MAGS: NONE. CONDITION: stock is in very nice condition with a high gloss finish to be water resistant and has scatter handling marks. Metal including bipod retains a very large degree of its factory parkerized finish having light high point wear. Stainless bbl. is in the white. Very good shiny bore with sharp lands.
