TRAPDOOR RIFLE. Cal. 50-70. NSN. Bbl. 36 5/8" w/ barley corn front sight & 2 leaf rear sight. Breech block is marked "1866". Springfield lock is dated "1865". 3 Band fastened walnut stock w/ iron fittings. Left side of stock has a clear "ESA" (Erskine S. Allin) cartouche. Triggerguard tang & buttplate peak are stamped "27". Slotted tip iron ramrod. Original leather sling. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: "US" marked socket bayonet. CONDITION: in the white finished metal has scattered light pitting shows careful cleaning. Stock has aged darkened finish showing scattered handling marks w/ sm. cracks behind lockplate.
