MATCH BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 1369852. Bbl. 24" w/ four groove rifling, marked "SA / 2-32". Muzzle has star gauge marking. Model 1903 front sight w/ Lyman long staff receiver sight as used on National Match rifles. Receiver rail has National Match punch marking. Left side of action is fitted w/ base for side mt. scope attachment. Bolt is fitted w/ Buehler low swing safety. Bolt body has electric pencil marked matching S#. Bolt handle is changed to low style for scope clearance. Original bottom metal & 2 stage serrated trigger. Custom classic style straight comb sporter stock of fancy Circassian walnut. Features include contrasting forearm tip, shadow line cheekpiece, gunsmith made steel grip cap & steel buttplate w/ coarse checkering & oil finish. Forearm & wrist have wrap around hand checkering w/ ornate vine type foliate hand carved borders. Leather military sling on Jaeger detachable swivels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: letter by prior owner dated 1950 discussing the alterations to the rifle & its previous National Match configuration. Letter says the metal work & bluing was done by Kirkwood Brothers, Gunsmiths of Boston who also supplied the Circassian stock blank. Also includes optional standard firing pin spring. CONDITION: bbl. & action retain over 95% custom blue showing light edge & bottom metal wear. Trigger guard bow has slight bend. Oil finished stock has dark lightly worn appearance showing scattered scratches & marks. Bore is bright w/ sound rifling. (21-676/DS). CURIO. $700-1,000.
