SPRINGFIELD US M1909 BOLO KNIFE.
M1909 bolo knife manufactured by Springfield Armory in 1910. The left side of the blade is stamped "SA/ (FLAMING ORDNANCE BOMB)/ 1910", with "U.S." above the serial number "7518" on the right. 2 piece smooth wood grips with iron guard and brass rivets and end cap. Brown leather scabbard is stamped "ROCK ISLAND/ ARSENAL/ 1915./ T.C.C.". CONDITION: blade exhibits scattered areas of pitting and dark discoloration overall, with areas of verdigris, appearing to be from the scabbard. Guard and handle frame exhibit areas of oxidation. Wood grips show some scattered marks and impressions from storage and handling. Scabbard remains malleable, exhibiting scattered marks from storage and handling, with some mild crazing on the belt loop. PROVENANCE: From the estate collection of Thomas J. Mulligan.
