GUN. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 0864. Bbl. 27". This uniquely designed gun has been in production since the 1920s & is entirely finished by hand with all parts beautifully shaped & polished. It has a 27" bbl. fitted with matted ventilated rib. Rear portion of rib is marked "SPECIALE PER TIRO AL PICCIONE" (special for pigeon shooting). The bbl. is of Boehler Antinit steel. Blued top portion of receiver is marked "Fusili Cosmi Brevettato-Torrette Di An Cona. Italia". Gun breaks open with top lever & cartridges are loaded into tubular magazine which runs through butt with space for 7. To fire, breech block is brought to the rear, cartridge inserted in chamber, breech block is then pushed forward. Gun is then closed, ready for firing. Safety has been made immovable for pigeon shooting. Coin finished bottom portion of action is very nicely engraved w/ full coverage large open shaded scroll with acanthus and floral highlights, further accented by opposed grotesque heads on sides of action. Bottom is engraved "R. Cosmi & FIGLL" "Torrette An Cona. Italia." Blued trigger guard is engraved to match action. Straight grip buttstock of finely marbled & figured European walnut measures 14 5/8" over black "Decelerator" type pad. Point pattern checkering is at grip & a sling loop matching that used as handle for loosing forend for takedown is on toeline. Detachable forend is of slim design & has fore & aft incised lines on sides above wraparound checkering. MEASUREMENTS: BBL: Bore Diameter: .728". Restriction: .039" (EXTRA FULL). STOCK: DAH: 2 1/16". DAC: 1 7/16". LOP: 14 5/8". CAST: slightly off. WEIGHT: 8 lb. 3 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun comes with a leather covered plastic case by "Negrini" with stitched in "Cosmi" oval on top also marked "Made in Italy". Interior is lined in green felt & has leather Cosmi label in lid. CONDITION: fine as most likely refinished by factory. Bbl. & top action retaining over 90% of factory type blue which has a purplish hue as often seen on Boehler Antinit bbls. Top of receiver is of shiny dark blue. Lower receiver retains nearly all of its coin finish. Stocks retain most of an old oil refinish with some scattered scratches. There appears to be a patch, possibly original, in right side grip area. Checkering cleaned up. Pad is relatively new. Bore is bright & shiny. Mechanically fine. Case appears to be close to new. (22-4490/MGM). CURIO. $8,000-13,000.
