SUPERBLY CRAFTED MAUSER FULL STOCK CARBINE
INSPIRED BY TYPE S OBERNDORF MAUSER STOCKED BY DALE GOENS AND METAL WORK BY RON LAMPERT. Cal. 280 Rem. S# N-9887. Bbl. 20" lightweight rnd., fitted w/ WILLIAMS "Shorty" ramp, engraved "Ron Lampert - Dale W. Goens" on top. Caliber is marked at left rear. 98 Large ring action has had sides of receiver ring slimmed & shaped leaving an original diameter boss at top. Side wall is slimmed & thinned to reduce weight & give a more streamlined appearance. Bridge has been lowered. Engine turned bolt is fitted w/ finely shaped Model 70 style, swept low bolt handle w/ pear shaped knob having 4 checkered panels. Bolt shroud is fitted w/ Model 70 type safety & bolt stop has custom filed & checkered thumbpiece. A commercial trigger has been installed. Custom steel bottom metal has hinged straddle floorplate retained by button in trigger guard bow in Commercial 98 fashion. Stock of superb, wonderfully dark watermarked & well figured European (most likely French) walnut shows a combination of styles; a mix of Oberndorf Type M & S. Stock extends to muzzle w/ schnabeled steel type M cap & also has intermediate type S Schnabel. It measures 13 5/8" over checkered Neidner style buttplate w/ trap. Shadow line right hand cheekpiece is very finely sculpted w/ attractive chamfer to outer edge. Cartridge ejection port chamfer at right side of action is mirrored by similar chamfer on left. Point pattern checkering w/ nicely mullered borders is at grip & forend. Rifle is also fitted w/ skeleton steel grip cap & sling eyes. Workmanship on metal & wood is of the highest order as would be expected from these two master gunsmiths of the Halcyon days of the "60's & "70's. WEIGHT: 6 lbs. 11 oz. CONDITION: extremely fine, as custom finished w/ only some high edge wear on metal surfaces & 1 or 2 minor handling marks on finely oil finished stock. Sharp shiny bore. Action very smooth.
