American made magazine fed centerfire bolt-action rifle chambered for .22 Hornet, and manufactured in Westfield, MA. The Model 340 'Series E' was in production from 1950 until 1985. Rifle features a blued refinish, receiver drilled and tapped for optic mounting, an approximately 24" tapered barrel, ramped blade front sight, flip-up 'U' notched rear sight with a white diamond, smooth curved trigger, bright trigger guard (may be polished or chrome plated), swept back bolt handle with knurling on the knob, checkered right receiver mounted manual safety, accepts detachable magazines, and a serrated magazine release inside the magazine well. The refinished walnut furniture consists of a semi-pistol gripped shoulder stock with basket-weave checkering at the wrist, basket weave checkered forend, sling studs at the forend and at the bottom of the shoulder stock, smooth black plastic grip cap with white spacer, and a serrated plastic butt plate with white spacer. A single piece mount with 1" rings is attached to the left receiver rail. The blue refinish remaining is approximately 99% with little to speak of. Metal displays no rust, but there was slight deformation observed in some of the screw slots. Bore is bright with decent rifling, and the action is smooth and crisp. The refinished furniture wood is in very good to excellent condition with some minor blemishes. Rifle includes one magazine total.
Condition is NRA Very Good - As Refinished.
