American made standard weight semi-auto shotgun chambered for 2-3/4" 12 Gauge shotshells, and manufactured in Utica, NY. This is a vintage shotgun designed by John Moses Browning, and manufactured between 1940 and 1949. This is a copy of the Browning Auto-5, considered the deluxe grade, the receiver depicts engravings of a hunting scene with a dog and birds in a marsh. Shotgun features a matte black aluminum receiver (appears to be a painted refinish), a 26" refinished blued barrel, fixed choke measures 'Improved Cylinder' with a drop-in gauge, brass bead front sight, smooth curved trigger, sderrated charging handle, annular cut bolt release on the right side of the receiver, knurled magazine tube cap with a sling stud, and an annular cut cross-bolt safety at the rear of the trigger guard. The hardwood furniture consists of a semi-pistol grip shoulder stock with checkering at the wrist, checkered and finger-grooved forend, sling stud at the bottom of the shoulder stock, 14-3/4" length-of-pull, and brown ventilated rubber recoil pad. The blued barrel finish retained is approximately 99% with light handling blemishes. The aluminum metal finish retained is approximately 97% with light edge wear, and a few small nicks. Metal displays light oxidation on the charging handle, and minor deformation in one of the screw slots. The action is smooth and crisp, and the bore is smooth and shiny. The hardwood furniture is in very good condition with minor handling blemishes, and some thinning finish.
Condition is NRA Good - as Refinished.
