WWII era British military magazine-fed bolt action service rifle chambered in .303 British. Produced in the United States by Savage-Stevens for the war effort via the lend-lease program. Reimported by CAI of Georgia, VT with import marks on the underside of the barrel. Features a parkerized finish, 25.2" barrel with integral bayonet lugs, shrouded patridge front sight, receiver mounted flip-up “L” dual aperture rear sight marked for 300 & 600 yards, two barrel bands, smooth trigger, detachable 10 round magazine, manual safety on the left side of the receiver, sling swivels, integral charge loading guide cuts in the receiver, smooth full-length wood handguard & forend and straight grip shoulder stock with metal trapdoor buttplate. The left side of the receiver is marked "U.S. PROPERTY”, [flaming bomb] & "S No 4 Mk 1*" and the left side of the butt socket is stamped “66C5214” & “B”. Matching serial numbers are found on the receiver and bolt handle. Includes a Savage marked No. 4 Mk. II round spike bayonet with metal scabbard and a tan canvas rifle cover. Rifle retains approximately 60% of its arsenal finish with brown patina and scattered light surface rust comprising the balance. Action is smooth, the two-land bore is fair and the wood stocks are near fine. Condition is NRA Good. ***C&R Firearm***
