Scarce Antique Engraved Sharps Breech-Loading 4-Shot Pepperbox Pistol, Model 1A, #5153, .30 RF cal., 3" square barrel group slides forward for loading and extraction, floral engraved including large stippled oval panel at each side; brass frame marked "Tipping & Lawden - Sharps' Patent" in left-side circular panel about the hammer screw, has front barrel release button, hammer with rotating striker, fully and finely floral engraved including standing breech, integral spurtrigger sheath and gripstraps; 1-pc. deep-relief floral gutta percha grips. Mfg'd ca. 1859-74. Condition is very good retaining good traces of blue to barrels with scattered light discoloration, and 70% original silver. Grips are sound showing only light wear. Edges, markings and engraving are sharp, barrel lockup is tight. Action is crisp, bores show light-to-moderate black-powder erosion, very good rifling. Est.: $750-$1,000. (Antique)
