SN: 25068 Vintage U.S. military large frame double action service revolver chambered in .45 Colt, manufactured circa 1910. The United States Marine Corp ordered 1,400 Model 1909 revolvers, which at their request differed slightly from the standard production Army model. Features a cut-down 2.5" round barrel, blade front sight, 'u' notched rear sight, fluted six-shot cylinder, non-shrouded ejector rod, smooth trigger, knurled hammer spur, large round butt frame with lanyard loop and two-piece smooth walnut grips. All observed markings - Frame: "25068", "H", "VP" inside a triangle, "3", "U.S./M.C." & "No/567". Cylinder: "47". Cylinder Latch: "5068". Crane: "25068". Right Grip Panel: "1930" scratched on the inside. and Left Grip Panel: "RAC" & "W" carved on the inside. Revolver displays a mostly mottled brown patina with portions in-the-white and approximately 10% bluing retained in the protected areas. Action is crisp with good lock-up, the bore appears very good but is dirt, markings are fair and the wood grips are good with a small loss & carved 'x' in the butt of the left panel.
